- Check varroa drop after treatment ends
- Complete topping up the food stores as necessary
- Fit mouseguards, if required
- Think about protection from woodpeckers.

- Monitor natural mite drop if you did not do this in October
- Plan further treatment for varroa if needed
- Check that the hive and protection against predators is intact after windy weather
- Check the entrance is not blocked by snow or debris such as dead bees
- Complete cleaning, sterilising and storing spare equipment
