Top Tips for October….

  • Remove any empty varroa control trays
  • Check varroa drop after treatment ends
  • Complete topping up the food stores as necessary
  • Fit mouseguards, if required
  • Think about protection from woodpeckers.

Top Tips for November

  • Monitor natural mite drop if you did not do this in October
  • Plan further treatment for varroa if needed
  • Check that the hive and protection against predators is intact after windy weather
  • Check the entrance is not blocked by snow or debris such as dead bees
  • Complete cleaning, sterilising and storing spare equipment
  • Start to review your progress and plan for next season.
